23 June 2018 – Macau, China: The largest global sports media property in Asian history, ONE Championship™ (ONE), returned to the glamorous entertainment capital of Asia with another evening of authentic world-class martial arts action. The packed Studio City Event Center in Macau, China played host to ONE: PINNACLE OF POWER, featuring the absolute best in local and international martial arts talent. In the main event, Geje Eustaquio became the undisputed ONE Flyweight World Champion, defeating Adriano Moraes via split decision. In the co-main event, Xiong Jing Nan retained the ONE Women’s Strawweight World Championship by dominating Laura Balin in five rounds to claim a unanimous decision win.

In the main event of ONE: PINNACLE OF POWER, a riveting battle took place between two outstanding mixed martial artists in the world today as flyweight rivals Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio and Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes put everything on the line to unify the ONE Flyweight World Championships. Both men went back-and-forth, swapping solid blows and momentum-shifting takedowns from bell to bell. Neither of the two would give each other any quarter for five rounds as both men traded their best offense all throughout the highly-anticipated title unification contest. After a gruelling encounter inside the ONE Championship ring, Eustaquio sent the crowd into a rapturous chorus of cheers by clinching a split decision win over Moraes to become the undisputed ONE Flyweight World Champion.

Geje Eustaquio, ONE Flyweight World Champion, stated: “The feeling is awesome. I want to thank all my kababayans (countrymen) here who came out to support me. I came to Macau with one vision, and that is to [unify the flyweight titles], and I know I am not capable of doing this alone. I want to thank God, Team Lakay, and of course my family. And to all the fans, thank you so much for the undying support. Ladies and gentlemen, when I started 14 years ago, this was impossible. But now, after 14 years, impossible is not a word, it’s just a reason. Anybody can be a world champion, as long as you have the drive and the attitude. I am proud to be the undisputed ONE Flyweight World Champion this time.”

In the co-main event of the evening, “The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan of China successfully defended the ONE Women’s Strawweight World Championship, defeating elite South American contender Laura Balin. With the desire to leave Macau remaining the division’s queen, Xiong overwhelmed Balin with her superb grappling pedigree. On the canvas, Xiong continuously pummeled Balin with thudding strikes and tried to bring the bout to a close with multiple submission attempts throughout the championship clash. Xiong punctuated the bout by outslugging Balin in the final round, steering herself to a dominant unanimous decision victory.

Making his ONE Super Series debut, two-division Lumpinee Stadium World Champion Petchmorrakot Wor. Sangprapai emerged triumphant against French dynamo Fabrice Fairtex Delannon in a catchweight Muay Thai encounter. Proving his stature as one of the top pound-for-pound Muay Thai practitioners in the world, Petchmorrakot finished the task at hand with a series of elbows that opened up a cut on Delannon’s forehead, coercing the ringside physician to halt the contest just 43 seconds into the second round.

Malaysian-Kiwi spitfire Ev “E.T.” Ting defeated another notable name in the promotion’s stacked lightweight division, routing fellow former world title contender Koji “The Commander” Ando of Japan. It was a striking showcase from start to finish as both men delivered shattering blows. Although Ando gallantly traded punches with Ting, the latter connected on effective strikes through excellent counterpunching. Ting pulled away in the last round when he scored on a devastating high knee. With his gutsy performance against Ando, Ting was awarded a unanimous decision win.

In a fierce clash of top ONE featherweights, former ONE Featherweight World Champion Narantungalag “Tungaa” Jadambaa of Mongolia turned in a vintage performance, stopping top divisional contender Edward “The Ferocious” Kelly of the Philippines by technical knockout in the second round. Jadambaa dominated both striking and grappling exchanges, while Kelly tried his best to fend off the former champion’s advances. However, Jadambaa’s pressure was too much to handle for Kelly, who succumbed to a series of ground strikes from the back.

In a ONE Super Series Muay Thai flyweight contest, the legendary Lerdsila Phuket Top Team of Thailand overcame a tremendous effort from his younger opponent Sok Thy of Cambodia, winning by split decision after three rounds. The two locked horns in a spirited clash of talented strikers, peppering each other with fiery combinations while showcasing great defense. In the end, it was Lerdsila who was able to earn two of the three judges’ nods.

Moroccan promotional newcomer Tarik Khbabez left a lasting impression in his first ONE Super Series appearance, notching a third-round knockout victory over heavyweight Alain “The Panther” Ngalani. Khbabez silenced the Cameroonian with his pressuring offense, catching Ngalani with a stream of punishing strikes from the first round to the final frame. In the third round, Khbabez unleashed a torrent of impactful blows that brought Ngalani to his knees. An exhausted Ngalani failed to beat the 10-count, compelling the referee to wave off the bout and declare Khbabez the victor via knockout.

In a ONE Super Series Muay Thai flyweight contest, Yukinori Ogasawara of Japan overcame a tremendous effort from Rui Botelho of Portugal to win by scintillating knockout in the second round. After coming from behind in the first frame, Ogasawara unleashed a beautifully-timed spinning back elbow in the second, turning the lights out on Botelho to emerge victorious in his ONE Championship debut.

Former ONE Featherweight Beijing Tournament 2014 Champion, “The Underdog” Li Kai Wen of China walked out to a thunderous chorus of cheers as he took on Rodian “The Redeemer” Menchavez of the Philippines. Featuring his trademark aggression and explosive power, Li blasted Menchavez with a monstrous right hand to finish his Filipino foe impressively in the first round via one-punch knockout. The finish set a new ONE Championship record of fastest finish in featherweight history at 10 seconds, shattering the previous record of 21 seconds set by Team Lakay’s Edward Kelly. It also earned Li the GoDaddy KO of the Night honors.

Flyweight standouts Danny “The King” Kingad of the Philippines and “The Southern Eagle” Ma Hao Bin of China put on an electric performance for the raucous crowd in Macau, delivering a thrilling exchange of offense. A former ONE Flyweight World Championship title challenger, Kingad utilized a heavy torrent of leg kicks and ferocious ground-and-pound to dominate Ma over three full rounds. In the end, Kingad earned a unanimous decision victory for his efforts.

Kicking off ONE: PINNACLE OF POWER were bantamweights Rin Saroth of Cambodia and Mario Satya Wirawan of Indonesia. The two figured in a spirited scrap, setting the pace for an exciting evening of martial arts action. After a showcase of evenly-matched striking and grappling, it was Saroth who emerged victorious, defeating Wirawan via technical knockout in the third round.

The absolute best in local and international martial arts talent are ready to enter the ONE Championship ring and showcase their skills. In the main event, Yodcherry Sityodtong of Thailand takes on Kai Ting Chuang of Chinese Taipei for the inaugural ONE Super Series Kickboxing Atomweight World Championship.

Ticket information for ONE: BATTLE FOR THE HEAVENS is available at www.onefc.com.

Chatri Sityodtong, Chairman and CEO of ONE Championship, stated: “World-class martial arts makes a triumphant return to the beautiful city of Guangzhou with another spectacular event. ONE: BATTLE FOR THE HEAVENS will feature a titanic clash between superstar strikers, as Thailand’s Yodcherry Sityodtong faces Chinese Taipei’s Kai Ting Chuang for the inaugural ONE Super Series Kickboxing Atomweight World Championship. The two will be joined by several of the very best martial arts talent from China and the world, so don’t miss this awesome evening of authentic martial arts action.”

19-year-old Muay Thai phenom Yodcherry Sityodtong makes her long-awaited ONE Championship debut when she competes for the inaugural ONE Super Series Kickboxing Atomweight World Championship. Sityodtong, who represents Evolve MMA in Singapore, owns an impressive professional Muay Thai record of 81-18-1. At such a young age, Sityodtong has already garnered many achievements in the ring, having won various Muay Thai World Championships throughout her young career. Now, Sityodtong looks to make her first appearance in ONE Super Series, taking on Kai Ting Chuang.

23-year-old Kai Ting Chuang of Chinese Taipei is making her ONE Championship debut at ONE: BATTLE FOR THE HEAVENS. A professional kickboxer with a record of 16-5, Chuang represents Iron Boxing, and is a two-time WAKO National Kickboxing Champion. Nicknamed “Killer Bee,” Chuang will go up against Yodcherry Sityodtong in the main event, which is set to crown the first-ever ONE Super Series Kickboxing Atomweight World Champion.

DEEP Flyweight Champion Tatsumitsu Wada is originally from the Yamanashi prefecture of Japan, but moved to Tokyo after high school to further his martial arts career. He originally started his training with karate, and later added judo to his growing skill set. Nicknamed “The Sweeper,” Wada has gone 11-1 in his career thus far, and twice captured the flyweight belt in DEEP. Currently on an eight-bout win streak, which includes five stoppage wins, he rides a huge wave of momentum coming into his ONE Championship debut. He is set to face the highly-regarded Reece McLaren in his first appearance in the promotion.

Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt Reece “Lightning” McLaren of Sydney, Australia is a highly-decorated martial artist, claiming the Eternal MMA and XFL Bantamweight Championships before making his ONE Championship debut. He emerged on the global stage in perfect fashion, scoring a stunning upset by submitting Mark Striegl for a hugely impressive win. He would continue that trend of success against highly-regarded prospect Muin Gafurov, and earn a shot at the ONE Bantamweight World Championship against dominant titleholder Bibiano Fernandes. McLaren gave the living legend an incredibly tough test, but narrowly missed out on gold via split decision. Now, he continues his quest for a world championship in the flyweight division, and he got off to a great start by submitting Thai star Anatpong Bunrad in November, and then Malaysian hero Gianni Subba in March. Next up, McLaren heads to Guangzhou to face newcomer Tatsumitsu Wada.

Four-time Kickboxing World Champion Andre “The Giant” Meunier grew up in a rough neighborhood in Melbourne, Australia, and originally trained in martial arts to learn self-discipline. A proven knockout artist, Meunier trains out of the Ultimate Kickboxing gym under James Roesler, and also regularly travels to Thailand to sharpen his skills with former WMTA Light Heavyweight Champion Nick Kara. Having competed all over Australia and Asia, Meunier has faced some of the striking arena’s biggest names, and has never backed down from a challenge. That warrior spirit will serve him well in ONE Super Series, as he goes up against Ibrahim El Bouni in his promotional debut.

Ibrahim El Bouni is of Moroccan-Dutch descent, and was born and raised in Haarlem, a part of the Amsterdam metropolitan area. El Bouni has developed himself into a true knockout artist with almost all of his wins coming by way of spectacular stoppage. He has put that overwhelming power to good use, even winning a one-night, eight-man tournament to become the A1WCC World Champion. A young man still just at the beginning of his career, a confident El Bouni says his biggest wins are yet to come, and is intent to rule over the heavier weight classes in ONE Super Series. He makes his promotional debut against Andre Meunier.

Fu Chang Xin began training to compete in mixed martial arts in 2011, and took the plunge by making his professional debut just three years later. He has since experienced great success, winning the majority of his bouts via stoppage, even claiming the CKF Championship along the way. What sets Fu apart from other Chinese mixed martial artists is the fact that he has already competed abroad several times in his young career, and is undefeated against foreign opposition. He brings an impressive win streak into his ONE Championship debut, which will come against Tang De Pan.

Tang De Pan is from Yongzhou, in the Hunan province of China. He began training in martial arts in 2011, because he loved the fun and excitement of competition. He has never stopped growing his skill set since. Determined to challenge himself on the greatest stage possible, Tang aims to see how well he matches up against the best martial artists in the world in ONE Championship, and prove the effectiveness of sanda against other styles and disciplines. He took the first step towards his goal at ONE: DYNASTY OF CHAMPIONS (CHANGSHA) upon his promotional debut, knocking out fellow countryman Zhou Biao via spectacular highlight-reel slam. He has since gone 2-1 in his young career. Up next, Tang faces Fu Chang Xin.

Saempetch Fairtex of Thailand first stepped into the ring at the age of 11, and a mere three years later, was already competing in the famed Rajadamnern Stadium in Bangkok. Now, Saemapetch trains out of the renowned Fairtex camp in Pattaya. He won the prestigious Tiger Cement Tournament at Channel 7 Stadium when he was just 17 years old, and in April 2018, added the MTGP Welterweight World Title to his resume. Another rising star from a well-regarded camp, Saemapetch looks to make his mark on the world in ONE Super Series. He will face Deividas Danyla in his ONE Championship debut.

IMC Muay Thai World Champion Deividas Danyla began training in Muay Thai when he was just 10 years old. After great success in the Lithuanian and European scene, where he captured four national and two regional championships, Danyla moved to Thailand in 2017 in search of a greater challenge. He has since faced a host of elite competition in Muay Thai, and proved he has what it takes to be counted amongst the world’s best. He makes his ONE Super Series debut against Saemapetch Fairtex.

Chinese Sanda Champion Zhao Zhi Kang is from the desert region of Inner Mongolia, where he began training in martial arts at the age of 15, inspired by heroes such as Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, and Jet Li. Zhao later made his professional debut in 2012, amassing an excellent 22-3 record by competing all across China, which brought him to the bright lights of ONE Championship. Driven by the competitive spirit of martial arts, Zhao aims to achieve glory on the global stage. In his next outing, Zhao returns to action to face Meas Meul.

Khmer Warrior Challenge Champion Meas Meul began training in Kun Khmer at an early age to deal with bullying in his childhood. Shortly after, Meul realized opportunities to build a professional martial arts career, and began to focus on training in other disciplines. He is well-versed in disciplines such as Kun Khmer, judo, wrestling, and boxing, becoming a five-time national champion in judo while compiling an unblemished 13-0 record in Kun Khmer. Meul made his professional mixed martial arts debut in 2014, and has racked up several impressive victories since then, with the majority of his wins being finishes. Training alongside the best martial artists in his native Cambodia, Meul looks to become the first from his country to win a world championship in mixed martial arts. Next up, he faces Zhao Zhi Kang.

Two-time Muay Thai World Champion Istela Nunes was born in Pau dos Ferros, a small industrial and agricultural town in Brazil’s northeastern state of Rio Grande do Norte. When she was just 5 years old, Nunes began training in the Brazilian martial art of capoeira, but switched to Muay Thai at the age of 10. She eventually settled in Rio de Janeiro, and after a professional Muay Thai career that saw her go 52-4 with two world championships in Thailand, she walked away from the sport. Shortly after, she picked up Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and after that, mixed martial arts. Nunes earned a shot at Angela Lee’s ONE Women’s Atomweight World Championship following a split decision win over Mei Yamaguchi in 2016. Although she fell short in her first ONE World Title challenge, Nunes proved that she is indeed one of the best female martial artists in the world. She will return to action to face Gina Iniong next.

Six-time Philippine National Wushu Champion Gina Iniong is originally from Baguio City, and first trained in martial arts when she took up boxing as a high school student. Later on, she transitioned to wushu as a means to earn a scholarship to the University of the Cordilleras, much like many of her teammates at Team Lakay. Upon graduation in 2012, Iniong became a full-time martial artist, making a name for herself as a six-time national wushu gold medalist. After establishing herself as one of the Philippines’ top women warriors, Iniong joined ONE Championship and has since registered impressive wins over tough opponents. Following her victory over former ONE World Title Challenger Jenny Huang last April, the Filipina now returns to action to face Istela Nunes.

DEEP Future King 2014 Tournament Champion Shuya Kamikubo is a former collegiate judoka who was born and raised in Yokohama, a part of Japan’s Kawasaki prefecture. During his studies at Nihon University, Kamikubo dedicated himself to his judo training, achieving several top finishes in major tournaments. Kamikubo was then inspired to compete in the cage, following the success of fellow judoka and Japanese martial arts legend Shinya Aoki. The man known as “Stealth” has put together an impressive 7-1-1 record in under four years as a professional, competing mostly in Japanese regional promotions such as Pancrase and Tribe Tokyo Fight. Now, he makes his ONE Championship debut against the veteran Sunoto.

WKF Indonesia Champion “The Terminator” Sunoto is from East Java, but moved to Jakarta in 2012 to pursue his martial arts dreams. He first started training in taekwondo as a child, but soon picked up other disciplines while travelling around the country to compete in several tournaments. Besides becoming a regional sanda champion, Sunoto also currently holds the rank of brown belt in traditional Japanese jiu-jitsu, and is a member of the Indonesian national sambo team, belying his growing all-around skills. Sunoto signed with ONE Championship in 2015, and has since put on many thrilling displays. Sunoto will take on Shuya Kamikubo in his next outing.

Growing up, Chinese National Greco-Roman Wrestling Champion Peng Xue Wen played football and practiced kung fu, but soon fell in love with wrestling after he began training and competing in the sport. He then went on to win several accolades in the discipline, and set his sights on mixed martial arts after he saw more and more of his seniors making their professional debuts. Peng believes his wrestling skills and flexibility are his keys to victory, and will be relying on them to achieve international fame under the bright lights of ONE Championship. He returns to action in Guangzhou to face Eddey Kalai.

Two-time SEA Games Boxing Bronze Medalist Eddey Kalai comes from a long line of boxers. After several years spent on the regional boxing circuit, Kalai became intrigued at the prospect of competing in mixed martial arts. He first took part in a national amateur tournament in 2013, and although he lost, he was instantly hooked. Kalai then decided to dedicate himself to training in all disciplines, and is constantly adding new tools to his strong boxing base. After 10 wins as an amateur with eight stoppages, Kalai turned professional, and now finds himself among the world’s best martial artists in ONE Championship. He is set to face Peng Xue Wen in his next appearance.

ONE Strawweight Indonesian Tournament Champion Adrian Mattheis was born in the Maluku islands of Indonesia, and one of the fastest rising stars in ONE Championship today. After first training in karate as a child, Mattheis later met famed coach Zuli Silawanto while studying at a university in Jakarta. He made his ONE Championship debut in August 2016, defeating two opponents via knockout in the same night to win the four-man tournament. He is currently riding a three-bout win streak, and in his last outing, defeated Lan Ming Qiang via three-round unanimous decision. Mattheis will now face Robin Catalan.

Muay Thai World Champion Robin Catalan was born in Santa Barbara, Iloilo, in the Visayan province of the Philippines, which is known for producing world-class boxers. He started training in martial arts in 2006, with hopes of following in the footsteps of his older brother Rene, a multiple-time wushu world champion. Catalan would go on to win numerous tournaments in both wushu and Muay Thai, including the Philippines National Wushu Sanda Championship in 2007 and 2008, and the IFMA World Muay Thai Championship in 2011. Inevitably, just like his brothers, he turned his attention to mixed martial arts. Training under Catalan Fighting Systems in Manila, Catalan looks to further showcase his skills by taking on Adrian Mattheis.

03 July 2018 – Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: The largest global sports media property in Asian history, ONE Championship™ (ONE), has just announced additional bouts for ONE: PURSUIT OF POWER, set for Friday, 13 July at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The absolute best in local and international martial arts talent are ready to enter the ONE Championship cage once again to showcase their incredible martial arts skill. In the main event, “Smokin’” Jo Nattawut takes on Yohann Fairtex Drai in a ONE Super Series Muay Thai contest.

Ticket information for ONE: PURSUIT OF POWER is available at www.onefc.com.

Chatri Sityodtong, Chairman and CEO of ONE Championship, stated: “ONE Championship returns to the Axiata Arena this 13 July for another blockbuster evening of world-class martial arts action. We have an amazing event planned for fans in Kuala Lumpur, as our ONE Championship athletes get ready to electrify the stadium with dazzling performances. In the main event, Jo Nattawut will face Yohann Fairtex Drai in a ONE Super Series Muay Thai contest. Also, we have four welterweights on the card competing in the ONE Welterweight Grand Prix. Agilan Thani takes on Zebaztian Kadestam, while Luis Santos faces Tyler McGuire.”

Two-division Lion Fight World Champion and WMC Muay Thai World Champion Jo Nattawut is one of the finest attacking talents in the striking world. Right from the opening bell, Nattawut ignites the ring with his trademark intensity, and it has led him to sterling success in his striking career. After a tremendous run of success through Thailand, Nattawut moved to the United States in 2013, and continued racking up impressive wins. A world champion of two different weight classes, Nattawut joined ONE Championship earlier this year where he is one of the biggest marquee names in ONE Super Series. He takes on Yohann Fairtex Drai in the main event of ONE: PURSUIT OF POWER.

Rising star and Super Muay Thai Champion Yohann Fairtex Drai of Marseilles, France is a French martial artist who lives and trains out of Pattaya, Thailand. He has built a reputation over the years as one of the hottest stars in Muay Thai with a 42-6 professional record, competing in promotions such as Kunlun Fight, All Star Fight, Thai Fight, Max Muay Thai, Super Muay Thai and WLF. A proponent of the prestigious Fairtex Training Center in Pattaya, which is home to many world-class martial artists such as the legendary Yodsanklai, Yohann Fairtex Drai will now take his talents to the ONE Super Series, and make his debut against Jo Nattawut.

Former ONE Welterweight World Title Challenger Agilan Thani is one of the most remarkable athletes Malaysia has ever produced. Ever since making his debut as an amateur, “Alligator” has torn through the competition. Undefeated as an amateur, Thani captured a Malaysian national championship before turning professional, winning six bouts in a row on the global stage of ONE Championship to earn a shot at Ben Askren’s coveted world title. Training out of Monarchy MMA in Kuala Lumpur under well-respected Belgian BJJ coach Samir Mrabet and in the United States at the world-famous Team Quest, Thani looks to re-establish himself as one of the top contenders to the ONE welterweight throne. He takes on Zebaztian Kadestam next.

Former PXC Welterweight Champion Zebaztian Kadestam started training in Muay Thai when he was 12 years old and later embarked on a highly successful professional career in the sport. Soon, he explored other disciplines, as he trained at the Pancrase Gym in Stockholm, and also traveled to the Philippines to sharpen his skills at the Legacy Gym in Boracay under famed martial artist Ole Laursen. Kadestam’s biggest victory came when he knocked out veteran Luis Santos in his ONE Championship debut, which earned him a shot at the ONE Welterweight World Championship held by Ben Askren. Though unsuccessful in his world title bid, Kadestam remains one of the top contenders in the division. He will take on Agilan Thani next.

Now a veteran of over 70 professional bouts, Luis Santos made his mixed martial arts debut in 2000, entering an eight-man open weight tournament. Some of the athletes weighed in at over 100kg, but “Sapo” still triumphed, as he stopped all three of his opponents in the opening round to claim the first title of his incredible career. Though Santos holds a black belt in judo, as well as a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, the veteran warrior is best known for his fearsome striking prowess. More than half of Santos’ victories have come by knockout, owing to the otherworldly power in his strikes. With the ability to finish opponents in a myriad of ways, Santos is one of the top contenders in ONE Championship’s welterweight division. He takes on newcomer Tyler McGuire next.

Undefeated American mixed martial artist Tyler McGuire of Washington, USA, is a submission specialist who trains out of Sik-Jitsu Fighting Systems in Spokane. With an unblemished 10-0 professional record, the 32-year-old owns seven victories by way of submission. Known for his ability to display creative grappling techniques, McGuire finds himself travelling halfway across the globe to Asia, where he plans to showcase his skills on the global stage of martial arts competition. Making his ONE Championship debut, McGuire will face the always-dangerous Luis Santos.

Sergej Maslobojev is one of the most accomplished strikers to ever emerge from Lithuania. He is a KOK and WKA Kickboxing World Champion with an impressive professional record against international competition. He began training in martial arts at the age of 18, and soon blazed a trail across the local and European kickboxing scene with his skills. He even moved to Lithuania’s capital city of Vilnius in order to have better access to sparring partners and professional trainers. Now training out of Sparta Fight Gym under Andrius Sipaila, Maslobojev has his sights set on a ONE World Championship. After making a successful ONE Super Series debut last May, he returns to face Florent Kaouachi.

Three-time Kickboxing World Champion Florent Kaouachi is a veteran martial artist from Reunion Island, France, who trains out of Mahmoudi Gym. He sports a professional kickboxing record of 35-5, and is considered one of the top middleweight kickboxers to come out of Europe. Kaouachi’s experience has now brought him to the prestigious ONE Super Series, where he aims to compete against the world’s very best in striking martial arts. He makes his much-anticipated debut against Sergej Maslobojev.

Former MIMMA Featherweight Champion Keanu Subba is the younger brother of Gianni Subba, who is one of ONE Championship’s top flyweights. Following in his older brother’s footsteps, Keanu became interested in mixed martial arts in 2005, after watching a reality TV show which centered around the sport. Today, he is one of the most highly-regarded featherweight prospects in ONE Championship. Since making his ONE debut in October of 2015, Subba has stopped several opponents, all in the first round, to stand out as one of the most exciting young talents to watch. He now returns to the ONE Championship cage to face Xie Chao.

Top Chinese featherweight Xie Chao is originally from Qingzhou, in the Shandong province north of Shanghai. At the age of 20, he started training in Jeet Kune Do — a famed martial arts discipline developed and founded by the legendary Bruce Lee — and began preparing to compete in mixed martial arts just four years later. He showcased his burgeoning grappling skills in his very first professional bout, which he won via first-round armbar. Xie made sure to leave a lasting impression in his first appearance in ONE CHAMPIONSHIP: SHANGHAI, where he submitted a game Marc Marcellinus via kimura armlock in just 90 seconds. Next up, he takes on the talented Keanu Subba.

Two-time Costa Rican Brazilian jiu-jitsu National Champion Ariel Sexton grew up in Costa Rica, and was an extremely athletic child who first began training in BJJ back in 2001. He soon fell in love with martial arts, and decided to quit his job to become a full-time professional martial artist. Sexton went on to earn his BJJ black belt under the famed Renzo Gracie, and established himself as the best mixed martial artist Costa Rica has ever produced. In 2013, he beat Malaysian superstar Peter Davis at the MIMMA Season 1 Finale, and since joining ONE Championship, he has also defeated standouts the likes of Eddie Ng and Anvar Alizhanov. Sexton aims for the top of the lightweight division, but will have to face Kota Shimoishi to progress in his career.

30-year-old martial arts veteran Kota Shimoishi of Osaka, Japan is one of his country’s top-ranked lightweight contenders. Representing Shooto Gym Blows, he has a professional mixed martial arts record of 21-5, and is set to join ONE Championship’s deep and talented lightweight division. A winner of five of his last six contests, Shimoishi is known for his well-rounded striking and grappling skills, as well as his ability to deliver victories using his craftiness. He will face Ariel Sexton in his ONE Championship debut.

Wushu World Champion and MIMMA Women’s Champion Jihin Radzuan is one of the finest female martial artists to emerge from Malaysia. She began training in silat briefly when she was just six years old. She then joined Ultimate MMA Academy shortly after, training in various martial arts disciplines. After just three months of training, she competed in Muay Thai for the first time. Driven by a hunger to compete, she followed that up with bouts in wushu, BJJ, kickboxing, and boxing, and captured a wushu world championship along the way. Radzuan made her professional debut in July 2017 with a quick knockout victory, which earned her a spot on the global stage of ONE Championship. Radzuan returns to action now to face Priscilla Hertati Lumban Gaol.

Former SEA Games Wushu Bronze Medalist Priscilla Hertati Lumban Gaol began training in wushu at the age of 17, after taking up an opportunity to compete for the Indonesian national team. She was highly successful in this regard, capturing both an Indonesian National Wushu Championship and a local boxing title. She even won a bronze medal in wushu at the Southeast Asian Games, with her striking success spurring her towards a career in mixed martial arts. Lumban Gaol is now set to face Jihin Radzuan in Malaysia.

Former SFC Bantamweight Champion Emilio Urrutia is originally from Miami, Florida, where he earned his purple belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and embarked on a successful amateur martial arts career. In 2013, Urrutia decided to travel to Thailand to prepare for his professional debut, but ended up falling in love with Asia and making the move permanent. Urrutia currently trains and teaches at Tiger Muay Thai in Phuket, Thailand. In just four years, he has competed all over the region in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines, accumulating an impressive amount of experience in such a short amount of time. Urrutia is now currently one of the top featherweight talents in ONE Championship, and will face the surging Li Kai Wen in his next contest.

ONE Featherweight Beijing Tournament Champion Li Kai Wen was introduced to martial arts by a friend, who had invited him to join a local gym called Tianjin Top Team in Tianjin, China. Li proved himself to be a prodigiously fast learner, and within weeks, he was surprising his teammates with his newfound striking skills. Li would go on to compete in both mixed martial arts and submission grappling, rapidly establishing a reputation for himself as one of the most exciting prospects on the notoriously competitive Chinese scene. Nicknamed “The Underdog”, Li burst onto the global stage in style, winning two bouts in a single night to win the ONE Featherweight Beijing Tournament in December 2014. In his last bout, Li stopped Filipino Rodian Menchavez in just 10 seconds, setting a record for fastest finish in ONE featherweight history. Next up, Li takes on Emilio Urrutia.

07 July 2018 – Guangzhou, China: The largest global sports media property in Asian history, ONE Championship™ (ONE), made a triumphant return to Guangzhou last Saturday night, as the biggest and brightest stars in martial arts came out to showcase their incredible skills. The Guangzhou Tianhe Gymnasium played host to ONE: BATTLE FOR THE HEAVENS and electrified the crowd with world-class martial arts action. In the main event, “Killer Bee” Kai Ting Chuang of Chinese Taipei captured the inaugural ONE Super Series Kickboxing Atomweight World Championship with a unanimous decision victory over Yodcherry Sityodtong of Thailand.

In the main event of the evening, 23-year-old “Killer Bee” Kai Ting Chuang of Chinese Taipei put on the performance of a lifetime, upsetting heavy favorite Yodcherry Sityodtong of Thailand in a five-round ONE Super Series Kickboxing title tilt. The three-time WAKO Kickboxing Champion employed a terrific game plan, avoiding Yodcherry’s powerful right hand and roundhouse kicks while countering with impeccable boxing combinations for five whole rounds. In the end, all three judges scored the bout in favor of Chuang to win by unanimous decision, awarding her the inaugural ONE Super Series Kickboxing Atomweight World Championship.

Kai Ting Chuang, ONE Super Series Kickboxing Atomweight World Champion, stated: “I went over this match with my coaches, and we came up with a great game plan which worked out perfectly. Thank you to all the fans who supported me, and especially my team who helped me in preparing for this match.”

In the co-main event of the evening, Filipino-Australian dynamo Reece “Lighting” McLaren made his case for a shot at the ONE Flyweight World Championship with resounding clarity, edging out Japanese veteran Tatsumitsu Wada by way of split decision. McLaren flaunted his fluid striking, repeatedly hammering Wada with stinging punches and lashing leg kicks. Although Wada posed problems on the mat in the opening moments of the bantamweight contest, McLaren’s impeccable grappling was able to pull out all the stops in the last two rounds of the bout, wearing out the Japanese stalwart with powerful takedowns and submission attempts. In the end, McLaren earned two of the three judges’ nods to have his hand raised by split decision.

Moroccan kickboxer Ibrahim El Bouni turned in a stirring performance in his ONE Super Series debut, attaining a first-round knockout win over Australia’s Andre “The Giant” Meunier. El Bouni patiently waited for the right moment to pounce on his hard-hitting counterpart. When he saw a good opening to strike, El Bouni dropped Meunier to the canvas with a thunderous hook. Although Meunier was able to beat the count of ten, El Bouni knew that the finish was within his reach, prompting him to produce another huge knockdown that put his Australian opponent on the mat for good. His stellar conquest of Meunier earned him the GoDaddy Knockout of the Night.

In a clash of promotional newcomers, Chinese ace Fu Chang Xin emerged triumphant, torching Rustem Yensebayev of Kazakhstan with a full display of his well-rounded martial arts skill set. Showcasing his versatility in his maiden assignment as a ONE Athlete, Fu flustered Yensebayev with pinpoint striking before he vindictively took matters to the ground. On the mat, Fu ferociously secured the finish, blasting his Kazakh foe with a relentless barrage of heavy blows that forced referee Yuji Shimada to intervene and call a halt to the contest.

In a ONE Super Series Muay Thai bantamweight bout, Saemapetch of the world-renowned Fairtex gym in Pattaya, Thailand put on an incredible striking showcase, dominating opponent Deividas Danyla of Lithuania over the course of three whole rounds. Operating behind the southpaw stance, Saemapetch cracked Danyla with whipping left roundhouse kicks and slashing left elbows throughout the duration of the bout. In the end, all three judges scored the bout in favor of Saemapetch to win by unanimous decision.

After tasting his first setback in ONE Championship last March, Zhao Zhi Kang of China redeemed himself by defeating compatriot and promotional debutant Ma Xu Dong. Although he went through a rough start at the hands of Ma, Zhao clung onto his submission wizardry, which paid dividends in the third and final round. Zhao put Ma to sleep with a tight guillotine choke to earn the victory.

Former two-time Muay Thai world champion and ONE World Title Challenger Istela Nunes of Brazil made a successful return to ONE Championship after more than a year away from competition, defeating the highly-regarded Gina “Conviction” Iniong of the Philippines. The 25-year-old Brazilian utilized her length and size advantage to keep Iniong out of range for the majority of the contest, and the Team Lakay veteran had difficulty closing the distance. In the end, all three judges saw the bout in favor of Nunes to win by unanimous decision.

25-year-old Shuya “Stealth” Kamikubo of Japan made a successful ONE Championship debut, overpowering martial arts veteran “The Terminator” Sunoto of Indonesia with a masterful grappling performance. After softening up Sunoto with ground-and-pound for the majority of the contest, Kamikubo put the finishing touches in the second round, pouncing on Sunoto with punches from top to win by technical knockout.

22-year-old Peng Xue Wen of China made quick and easy work of former two-time SEA Games Boxing Bronze Medalist Eddey “The Clown” Kalai of Indonesia, winning via first-round technical knockout. After trading kicks at the center of the ONE Championship ring, the two began to trade punches. Although he was swapping hard blows with a highly-decorated boxer, it did not deter Peng, who caught Kalai with an overhand right that dropped the Indonesian instantly. Follow-up punches on the ground ended matters just under a minute into the contest, earning Peng the stoppage victory.

Kicking off ONE: BATTLE FOR THE HEAVENS were strawweights Robin Catalan of the Philippines and Adrian Mattheis of Indonesia. After an impressive striking performance for two rounds, Catalan caught Mattheis with a heel hook midway through the second frame. With Mattheis in no position to escape, Catalan put the pressure on the submission and forced the tap.

(SUKAN) Zebaztian Kadestam’s road to redemption begins in Kuala Lumpur

$

When he made an astonishing promotional debut in ONE Championship in May 2017, Swede powerhouse Zebaztian “The Bandit” Kadestam instantaneously became the hottest property in the promotion’s growing welterweight division.

It was a daunting task for Kadestam when he made his first appearance under the bright lights of the famed ONE Championship cage as he accepted a three-round welterweight encounter against former world title contender Luis “Sapo” Santos on just two weeks’ notice.

The then-unknown Kadestam had been completely dominated in the opening two rounds of the contest before pulling off a miraculous knockout in the final stanza.

Kadestam turned the tide midway of the third round by sprawling a sluggish takedown attempt from the Brazilian, then reversed position, and hammered his opponent with strikes from side control.

A pair of hard knees put the finishing touches as the referee stepped in to call a halt to the contest at 2:18 of the third and final frame.

“I do not think I have ever fought like that before. I was waiting and waiting because I could feel his power, especially in the first two minutes. He had power in everything. He was fast in his hands and knees. My plan was to attack a lot more, but I could also see him gas early,” Kadestam recalled.

Kadestam’s astounding victory over Santos swiftly earned him a title opportunity as he challenged Ben Askren for the ONE Welterweight World Championship four months later, but his momentum was quickly halted by the unbeaten American champion.

Askren defeated Kadestam to retain the welterweight crown by way of second-round technical knockout in Shanghai, China.

Eager to erase the memory of his loss to Askren in September 2017 by putting himself back on the winning track, Kadestam returns to action on Friday, 13 July as he is booked to square off with a fellow ex-world title challenger in Agilan “The Alligator” Thani of Malaysia.

Both men are slated to face each other in the main event of ONE: PURSUIT OF POWER, which takes place at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Kadestam guarantees a better version of himself as he crosses paths with Thani, who aced his last two assignments since yielding to Askren in May 2017.

“Coming into this bout, I have a renewed confidence now. Surely, I am training hard. I am motivated to show the world that I am worthy to compete on an international stage like ONE Championship,” he stated.

Now that Askren has decided to call it a career after a successful title defense against Shinya Aoki last November, the road to the world title has seen its most costly toll removed.

Kadestam seeks to continue his climb to the apex of the organization’s 83.9-kilogram weight class.

“I have dreams of really becoming a world champion in this wonderful sport someday, and I am coming and willing to work for it,” he said.

Kadestam knows that he and Thani share the same desire of competing for gold once more, but he stressed that his Malaysian counterpart would not get the title shot he intensely wants at his expense.

“I am no pushover. I am not someone’s footstool. The belt will soon be mine. The bigger the obstacle, the greater the glory. I am here to fulfill my destiny,” he ended.

13 July 2018 – Manila, Philippines: The largest global sports media property in Asian history, ONE Championship™ (ONE), has just announced the complete card for ONE: REIGN OF KINGS, set for the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila this 27 July. The absolute best in local and international martial arts talent are ready to showcase their incredible skills on the largest global stage of martial arts competition.

Once again, ONE Championship’s finest athletes will electrify the Mall of Asia Arena with explosive, action-packed contests. In the main event, hometown hero Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon of Baguio City, Philippines will take on two-division ONE World Champion Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen of Sydney, Australia.

Ticket information for ONE: REIGN OF KINGS is available at www.onefc.com.

Filipino Flyweight Champion Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon of Team Lakay hails from Kiangan, Ifugao province. He made his professional cage debut in 2007, winning his first nine bouts while capturing a local flyweight title. After joining ONE Championship in 2012, Belingon put together a series of tremendous performances, including several highlight-reel finishes, to earn a shot at ONE Bantamweight World Champion Bibiano Fernandes in early 2016. Although Belingon failed to capture the title, he has since been on a warpath back to world title contention, putting together a sensational win streak which includes huge knockout wins over several former world title challengers. In the main event of ONE: REIGN OF KINGS, Belingon will compete against Martin Nguyen for the ONE Interim Bantamweight World Championship.

ONE Featherweight & Lightweight World Champion Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen of Sydney, Australia made his professional mixed martial arts debut in 2012. He quickly took the featherweight circuit by storm, winning an eight-man tournament to be crowned Australia’s BRACE MMA Featherweight Champion. Shortly after, he signed with ONE Championship in 2014 and has since put together a string of stunning finishes. Nguyen became the first-ever two-division titleholder in ONE Championship history, having knocked out both Marat Gafurov and Eduard Folayang to become the very best featherweight and lightweight mixed martial artist in the world. At ONE: REIGN OF KINGS, he hopes to become the world’s first three-division mixed martial arts world champion when he takes on Kevin Belingon for the ONE Interim Bantamweight World Championship.

Naksu Champion Shannon “OneShin” Wiratchai is Thailand’s top lightweight, and has provided plenty of drama in all his ONE Championship bouts to date. Coupled with his elite martial arts skills, his highly-entertaining walkouts to the ONE cage have also made him a fan favorite. Wiratchai’s explosive power makes him exciting to watch, and he has never been stopped by submission or by strikes in his career. With a background in judo, Wiratchai is highly-effective with trips and throws, but it is his ability to stop opponents in a variety of ways that has stood out in the cage. With his very own “OneShin Striking System” that utilizes creative combinations, Wiratchai has proven to be a well-rounded competitor. Next up, he faces the legendary Shinya Aoki.

Former ONE Lightweight World Champion Shinya Aoki is the most successful submission specialist in Asian martial arts. An iconic figure, he is known for his overpowering ground game, which had already won him titles with WAMMA, DREAM, and Shooto before he began his dominant run as a ONE lightweight. Aoki is for many the face of Asia in the cage, holding an incredible slew of submission wins and almost 75 percent of his overall victories coming inside the distance. Throughout his fabled career, the Japanese veteran has beaten some of the biggest names in the world, including Tatsuya Kawajiri, Caol Uno, and Eddie Alvarez. He now returns to face rising star Shannon Wiratchai next.

A true martial arts legend and 6th degree Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, Renzo Gracie of the famed Gracie family will resume his legendary martial arts career in ONE Championship after eight years since his last professional bout. Grandson of the famed Gracie Jiu-Jitsu founder Carlos Gracie, and son of 9th Dan BJJ black belt Robson Gracie, Renzo started training in BJJ as a toddler, like most in his family. Over a storied career, he has won multiple competitions, the most prestigious being the ADCC Championship, which he captured twice. A mixed martial artist with a 13-7 record, Gracie has faced the biggest names in the cage, and is a skilled grappler with decades of competition experience under his belt. He makes his way back into the spotlight for the last time to face the veteran Yuki Kondo.

Mixed martial arts veteran Yuki “Sora” Kondo of Japan has more than 100 professional bouts on his resume, lending his talents to famed Japanese mixed martial arts promotion Pancrase for the greater part of the last two decades, where he became a two-division champion. Beginning his professional career in 1996, Kondo has amassed an incredible 60-34-9 record, which includes 19 knockouts and 17 submissions. After years of showcasing his skills, Kondo now marches toward his farewell bout against the legendary Renzo Gracie.

Former ONE Lightweight World Champion Eduard “Landslide” Folayang of Baguio City, Philippines is an alumni of the Philippine Wushu Team, winning 11 medals including three golds at the SEA Games to become a national hero. Not long after his amateur martial arts career, the Team Lakay veteran took up mixed martial arts and became a professional athlete under the guidance of Filipino martial arts pioneer Mark Sangiao. Folayang captured a Filipino Welterweight Championship in his 2007 debut, and helped ONE Championship kick off its inaugural show in 2011. Five years later, he took on then-lightweight titleholder Shinya Aoki, shocking the Japanese legend with a third round knockout to capture the title. Folayang’s childhood hero Manny Pacquiao called him “one of the legends of mixed martial arts in the Philippines,” elevating the Filipino to superstar status. He returns to action at home in Manila to take on Aziz Pahrudinov.

NAGA Champion Aziz Pahrudinov is an undefeated professional mixed martial artist who hails from Buynaksk, Russia. The 29-year-old who represents the K-Dojo Warrior Tribe is an exciting lightweight proponent that has now joined ONE Championship’s elite lightweight ranks. An extremely high-level grappler and explosive striker, Pahrudinov has built a reputation as a bonafide finisher, featuring close to a 95% finishing rate in competition, whether by submission or by knockout. Now on the biggest global stage of martial arts competition, Pahrudinov is looking to test his skills against the world’s best. He makes his ONE debut against former lightweight titleholder Eduard Folayang.

Multiple-time No Gi BJJ World Champion Garry “The Lion Killer” Tonon of New Jersey, USA began his martial arts career as a wrestler, competing extensively throughout grade school. He was introduced to Brazilian jiu-jitsu at age 14, enrolling at Tom DeBlass’ Ocean County BJJ and became one of DeBlass’ most dedicated students. He won his first BJJ world title in 2008 in the juvenile blue belt division. Today, he is one of the world’s most decorated grapplers, having won multiple tournaments across the globe. He is a former IBJJF World Champion, two-time IBJJF World No-Gi Champion, and four-time Eddie Bravo Invitational Champion. He made his professional mixed martial arts debut in early 2018, stopping Filipino Richard Corminal by second-round TKO. Tonon now makes his way back to face Rahul Raju.

Ultimate Satira Champion Rahul “The Kerala Krusher” Raju is originally from Kerala, India, but moved to Singapore in 2011 to further his studies. He began training in Chinese kung fu at age 14 after losing in a schoolyard scuffle, which triggered a lifelong passion for martial arts. In Singapore, Raju began training at Juggernaut Fight Club in 2013, and soon competed in various combat sports as an amateur before switching focus to competing professionally in the cage. He made his debut in February 2016 with a submission win and has not looked back, running up an impressive record along the way by competing in the Singapore Fighting Championships. After signing with ONE in 2018, Raju vowed to make his mark on the global stage of martial arts competition. He faces dangerous grappler Garry Tonon next.

WMTA World Super Welterweight Champion Armen Petrosyan is a kickboxer from Milan, Italy and is the brother of world-renowned kickboxing legend Giorgio “The Doctor” Petrosyan. Known as an aggressive fighter, Petrosyan is a former two-time Italian Kickboxing Champion and a former European Kickboxing Champion. In 2013, Petrosyan took part in an eight-man tournament, emerging as the overall winner to be crowned the WMTA World Super Welterweight Champion. With a professional kickboxing record of 69-17-1, Petrosyan makes his ONE Super Series debut against Chris Ngimbi in a kickboxing contest.

Being a WKA Muay Thai World Champion, It’s Showtime 70MAX World Champion, and SUPERKOMBAT Champion, Chris “The African Warrior” Ngimbi is one of the very best strikers to have emerged from Africa. Born in Zaire, which is now known as the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ngimbi changed his life when he moved to the Netherlands at age 17, taking up kickboxing shortly after. Following just three months of training, Ngimbi was already stepping into the ring to compete. Ngimbi has faced some of the biggest names in kickboxing, such as Giorgio Petrosyan. He returns to action in Manila to face Armen Petrosyan in a ONE Super Series kickboxing bout.

Two-time Muay Thai World Champion Panicos Yusuf is originally from Limassol, the second-largest city in the island nation of Cyprus. He briefly studied Shotokan Karate as a child, but didn’t seriously train in martial arts until he discovered Muay Thai when he was just 15 years old. Two months after he began training, Yusuf competed in his first Muay Thai bout, and eventually joined the Cyprus national Muay Thai team, traveling to Russia and Lebanon to test his skills in the ring. In 2005, Yusuf relocated to Manchester, England, opening up his own gym named All Powers. He has since compiled almost 40 wins in a sterling professional career, becoming ranked as the United Kingdom’s very best Muay Thai competitor for his weight class. He will take on Han Zi Hao in a ONE Super Series Muay Thai bout.

Top King Muay Thai World Champion Han Zi Hao of China is a Muay Thai practitioner who is based out of Bangkok, Thailand. The 23-year-old already owns an impressive professional Muay Thai record of 57-14 early in his career. A representative of Mad Muay Thai Gym, Han Zi Hao now finds himself looking to showcase his incredible striking skills on the biggest global stage of martial arts competition, joining elite athletes in the world of striking martial arts as part of ONE Super Series. Han Zi Hao’s first appearance for the promotion will be a tough one however, as the Chinese stalwart takes on Panicos Yusuf in a ONE Super Series Muay Thai bout.

Former ONE Strawweight World Title challenger Joshua “The Passion” Pacio of Baguio City, Philippines was inspired to take up martial arts ever since he was 12 years old. After an undefeated amateur career, Pacio soon made his professional debut, where he went 6-0 before making it to the global stage of ONE Championship. He is inspired by former ONE Lightweight World Champion Eduard Folayang, whom he trains with every day at Team Lakay. In 2016, he got his chance against reigning ONE Strawweight World Champion Yoshitaka “Nobita” Naito, falling just short of victory. Despite the setback, Pacio continues to chase his dream of becoming a world champion and has put together three solid victories in his last four outings. Next up, Pacio takes on surging Thai superstar Pongsiri Mitsatit.

Chiang Mai Muay Thai Champion Pongsiri “The Smiling Assassin” Mitsatit hails from the North East of Thailand and was raised in humble surroundings. After repeated encounters with childhood bullying, Mitsatit decided to pick up Muay Thai to learn how to protect himself. Through his hard work and talent, he soon ran up an impressive 72-17 record, and even won a Muay Thai championship in the process. Mitsatit then made his professional mixed martial arts debut in 2014, and has since rapidly emerged as one of Thailand’s most exciting talents. At just 22 years of age, Mitsatit already holds a perfect professional record, including several TKO wins in ONE Championship. Now training at the prestigious Tiger Muay Thai in Phuket, Mitstatit will see action in Manila against Joshua Pacio.

Multiple-time Wushu World Champion Rene Catalan of the Philippines is one of the most decorated wushu artists ever to make the transition to mixed martial arts. Having won both the Wushu World Championship and Wushu World Cup two times each, Catalan is undoubtedly one of the very best in the world to have taken up the discipline. He has also won gold medals for wushu at the Asian Games, SEA Games, and Asian Championships. Catalan inevitably joined ONE Championship in 2013, gaining valuable experience by taking on some top strawweight talents. The veteran is currently riding an impressive four-bout win streak, two of which have ended in exciting finishes. He looks to build on his success by taking on rising Indonesian martial arts star Stefer Rahardian next.

ONE Indonesia Flyweight Tournament Champion Stefer Rahardian has been on a tear ever since he debuted on the global stage of ONE Championship, and quickly became Indonesia’s foremost martial arts star with a perfect professional record. An elite BJJ specialist under the lineage of the legendary Carlson Gracie, Rahardian has claimed gold in various BJJ tournaments around the region. He has utilized his grappling wizardry to sterling success in the ONE cage, running up an impressive professional record with the majority of his victories coming by way of submission. Rahardian is now set to face Rene Catalan in his next contest.

After over 145 wins in the ancient striking art of Kun Khmer, Sor Sey sought a greater challenge and has set his sights on the ONE cage. He decided to add other martial arts disciplines to his arsenal, under the tutelage of famed coach Chan Reach and BJJ black belt Fernando Salvador. Driven by the desire to forge a better future for his family, Sor Sey wants nothing more than to succeed on the global stage of martial arts competition, under the bright lights of ONE Championship. Today one of Cambodia’s best martial artists, Sor Sey continues his search for glory when he takes on Xie Bin.

ONE Hefei Bantamweight Tournament Finalist “The Stalker” Xie Bin grew up in Hunan, China, and trains alongside ONE Championship veterans Li Kai Wen and Ma Jia Wen at Tianjin Top Team. He is part of a new breed of Chinese athletes who have been training in mixed martial arts since the beginning of their careers. At just 20 years old, Xie has tremendous potential to make an impact on ONE Championship’s bantamweight division. With skills in boxing, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and Muay Thai, Xie is determined to become China’s first-ever male mixed martial arts world champion. He faces Sor Sey in his next outing.

13 July 2018 – Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: The largest global sports media property in Asian history, ONE Championship™ (ONE), treated fans to yet another exciting evening of world-class martial arts action. The packed Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia played host to ONE: PURSUIT OF POWER, which featured the absolute best in local and international martial arts talent. In the main event, Zebaztian “The Bandit” Kadestam of Sweden scored a rousing third-round TKO of hometown hero Agilan “Alligator” Thani of Malaysia.

In the main event of ONE: PURSUIT OF POWER, former ONE World Title Challenger Zebaztian “The Bandit” Kadestam of Sweden turned in one of the most impressive performances of his career, defeating hometown hero Agilan “Alligator” Thani of Malaysia with a dominant striking showcase. Kadestam overwhelmed Thani in the stand up for two whole rounds while avoiding the Malaysian’s vaunted wrestling game. In the third and final round, Kadestam confidently lit Thani up with a creative sequence of strikes to coerce referee Olivier Coste to call a halt to the contest, earning him a resounding technical knockout victory.

Zebaztian Kadestam, ONE athlete, stated: “Agilan [Thani] is tough, he is really tough. I hurt my hand in the first round and I tried not to think about it. His wrestling was good and he is a tough kid. In the third round, I went back to my hand and it was good, so I said let’s go. I’ve been training hard for a long time, and this was just me flowing. Thank you to the fans in Kuala Lumpur for showing the support.”

In the co-main event of the evening, “Smokin’” Jo Nattawut of Thailand redeemed himself in the highly-acclaimed ONE Super Series, shutting the lights off on French debutant Yohann Fairtex Drai in the first round. Driven to reinsert his name into the winner’s column, Nattawut relentlessly drenched Drai with piercing combinations. He scored his first knockdown in the bout when he landed a staggering right straight to the chin of Drai. With a few seconds remaining in the round, Nattawut did not hesitate to fish for the finish, firing a torrent of impactful punches and then punctuating matters with his strong right hand. The victory earned Nattawut the GoDaddy Knockout of the Night.

Promotional newcomer Tyler McGuire of the United States scored the biggest win of his professional career, beating former world title contender Luis “Sapo” Santos of Brazil by unanimous decision in his ONE Championship debut. Both men provided fans with a tremendous display of offense in a contest that saw the two welterweights exchanging unyielding blows and momentum-shifting takedowns for three rounds. Despite the menacing advances of Santos from bell to bell, McGuire kept his composure and boldly wrestled the dangerous Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner. With McGuire showing superiority in the grappling department, all three judges at cageside awarded the victory in favor of the 32-year-old undefeated American.

Former ONE Featherweight World Champion Narantungalag “Tungaa” Jadambaa of Mongolia made a quick turnaround, taking on Kazuki Tokudome of Japan just three weeks removed from his last bout. The 42-year-old veteran looked fresh and in peak condition, overwhelming Tokudome with his strength and power. Although Tokudome did have his moments, it wasn’t enough to alter Jadambaa’s game plan. After three rounds of dominance, Jadambaa emerged the victor, earning the judges’ nod behind a powerful striking and grappling performance.

Sergej Maslobojev of Lithuania established a two-bout winning streak in ONE Super Series, outclassing French striker Florent Kaouachi in a three-round kickboxing encounter. The Lithuanian powerhouse thrilled the crowd inside the packed Axiata Arena with a captivating performance, pestering Kaouachi with a variety of furious combinations all throughout the contest. Maslobojev was able to score a knockdown in the first round with a stinging jab. He dropped his opponent again in the final frame with a hard right straight, securing a unanimous decision victory.

Hometown hero Keanu Subba placed himself back on the winning track, defeating Chinese featherweight prospect Xie Chao via first-round submission. Determined to walk away with the sweet victory in front of his countrymen, Subba effortlessly caught Xie with an armbar midway through the opening period. Xie exerted his best effort to defend and break the hold, but Subba applied pressure on the submission and forced the tap.

Top lightweight contender Ariel “Tarzan” Sexton of Costa Rica scored a much-needed victory, finishing Japanese stalwart Kota “Kong” Shimoishi with an impressive submission in the third round. The BJJ black belt Sexton started off the bout boxing beautifully, dropping Shimoishi in the first round with a huge right uppercut. Shimoishi recovered and came alive in the second, scoring on a series of takedowns, but Sexton dropped him again with a straight right hand at the bell. In the final round, Sexton caught Shimoishi in a reverse triangle, locked in the Americana, and forced the tap.

Chinese martial arts ace Li Kai Wen continued his ascent up the featherweight ranks, stopping American contender Emilio Urrutia in the third round. Li displayed his familiar power early, tagging Urrutia with sharp combinations that knocked down his opponent twice in the opening frame. Although Urrutia was able to find his groove in the second with his stinging jabs and leg kicks, Li regained the momentum in the final round, connecting on a solid right cross to drop his foe for the third time in the bout. Once Urrutia hit the canvas, Li did not stop raining down punishing blows to compel the referee to call a halt to the contest.

In an impressive performance, 19-year-old Malaysian martial arts prodigy Jihin “Shadow Cat” Radzuan put forth a dominant effort, earning a unanimous decision victory over Indonesia’s Priscilla Hertati Lumban Gaol after three incredible rounds of action. Radzuan stifled Gaol in the grappling department, flowing effortlessly with transitions while threatening with multiple submissions. Gaol tried her best to defend, but she could not overcome Radzuan’s relentless ground game. In the end, all three judges scored the bout in favor of Radzuan.

Thailand’s Petchdam Kaiyanghadao left a lasting impression in his much-awaited ONE Super Series debut, knocking out fellow debutant Josh Tonna of Australia in a Muay Thai contest. Petchdam got the job done in the second round by landing his signature left roundhouse kick before connecting with a follow-up knee to Tonna’s jaw that left the Australian on the canvas unable to recover.

Kicking off ONE: PURSUIT OF POWER were welterweights Trestle “Jun Minion” Tan of the Philippines and “Crazy Dog” Dae Sung Park of South Korea. Park, an alumnus of Rich Franklin’s ONE Warrior Series, made his ONE Championship debut by putting together a dominant three-round performance, utilizing a plethora of takedowns and doing damage with ground-and-pound to take home a unanimous decision victory.

Kuala Lumpur, 15 July 2018 – The excitement and buildup to the Fight Of Champions Kuala Lumpur culminated on a high today as boxing fans saw a determined Manny Pacquiao winning the WBA Welterweight World Title, after overcoming defending champion Lucas Matthysse from Argentina. The fight ended after referee Kenny Bayless declared a technical knockout in Round 7 of the top-billed fight. Prior to the TKO, the Pacman had brought The Machine to his knees three times. The 39-year-old Pacquiao adds yet another win to his haul, now totalling 60 (60-7-2, 39 KOs).

The fight card also included 20 Malaysian and international fighters in the undercard match-ups, with another three title fights in contention. Carlos Canizales of Venezuela defended his WBA Light Flyweight World Title while Jhack Tepora of the Philippines won the WBA Interim Featherweight World Title and Moruti Mthalane of South Africa took home the IBF Flyweight World Title.

The event was attended by a number of VIPs. From Malaysia were Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu, Foreign Minister Dato’ Saifuddin Abdullah, Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo and Water, Land and Natural Resources Minister Dr Xavier Jayakumar, while the vocal fans from the Philippines were heartened by the presence of President Rodrigo Duterte and Philippines Ambassador to Malaysia Charles C. Jose. Also in attendance were Argentinian Ambassador to Malaysia Manuel Balaguer Salas and Ukrainian Ambassador to Malaysia Olexander Nechytaylo.

The first bell of the day at 7am was for the Junior Featherweight fight between Ratchanon Sawangsoda from Thailand and Juan Miguel “The Boss” Elorde from the Philippines. The match ended with Elorde emerging the winner after delivering three knockdowns to Sawangsoda in the third round, resulting in a technical knockout being declared. With this win, Elorde’s record stands at 26-1, 14 KOs.

Next in the ring were home favourite Theena Thayalan from Kajang taking on Siddarth Ravin Varma from India in a Welterweight fight. The 20-year-old Malaysian, the younger of two Klang Valley boys seeing action today, injured his shoulder in the first round of the fight that he considers the biggest in his career to date. With limited movement in his main hand, he nevertheless soldiered on in the four-round match that ended with a Split Draw result.

Moruti Mthalane from South Africa won his IBF Flyweight World Title against Muhammad Waseem from Pakistan by Unanimous Decision in a closely-fought match scored at 114-113, 114-113 and 116-110. He had won the same title in November 2009 and successfully defended it four times, before eventually vacating the title. With this win, Mthalane’s record reads 36-2, 24 KOs.

The action in the WBA Light Flyweight Title match between incumbent Carlos Canizales from Venezuela against Lü Bin from China came down to the 12th round, when the challenger was defeated with a technical knockout in the final round. With this successful defence of his title, Canizales improves his record, now at 21-0-1, 17KOs.

Fans from the Philippines continued to have cause for cheer as Jhack Tepora of Cebu City in the Philippines overcame Mexican contender Edivaldo Ortega to win the WBA Interim Featherweight World Title by technical knockout in the 9th round. Tepora adds this victory to his impressive tally of wins, currently at 22-0, 17KOs.

The big fight that all had been eagerly awaiting followed the Ortega-Tepora match-up, which was then followed by another boxer from the Philippines taking the ring – Vincent Astrolabio fighting Yuuki Kobayashi from Japan in an eight-round Super Flyweight contest. The contest ended with a fourth round TKO favouring Kobayashi, which takes his career record to 18-1, 9KOs.

Next up was Jay Ar Magboo from the Philippines taking on George Kambosos Jr from Australia in an eight-round Lightweight fight. Kambosos continued his winning form with a third-round TKO, remaining unbeaten in his professional career with a record of 15-0, 9KOs.

Eleftherios Tzouramanis of Australia’s eight-round Welterweight fight against Jayar Inson of the Philippines marked another win for the Philippines camp. Inson was declared the winner by Unanimous Decision, taking his professional career tally to 16-1, 10KOs.

The penultimate fight saw YongQiang Yang of China pitted against Harmonito Dela Torre from the Philippines in a Super Featherweight match-up. The fight ended in the third round, after a TKO result that saw Yang triumph. Yang’s record now stands at 11-0, 8KOs.

Closing out the bout sheet was the four-round Featherweight match between Kuala Lumpur native Aiman Abu Bakar and Abdi from Indonesia. Prepared for a tough fight against the Indonesian, the 26-year-old Malaysian made sure to show his strength right from the first round. Having picked up a cut above his eye after being headbutted, he did not take unnecessary risks, confident that his performance had put him in a strong position to win by Unanimous Decision. Aiman’s career record now stands at 8-0, 3 KOs.

Quote from Theena Thayalan:
“I consider this the biggest match in my career. Unfortunately, I injured my shoulder in the first round, so I couldn’t move my first hand well, and I fought the full match with my second hand only. It was a good fight, although I had hoped to win with my first hand. We will look for a rematch. In any combat sport, go full force with your heart, you can succeed. There are many growing platforms in Malaysia where everyone can try out. Maybe you will not be like me but you could become the next champion.”

Quote from Aiman Abu Bakar:
“After four years, this fight is a homecoming for me. It is also a stepping stone to bigger and better things, like fighting in Las Vegas. I think having the opportunity to see Manny Pacquiao and Lucas Matthysse fighting in Malaysia is a great way to grow passion for boxing in Malaysia. Boxing is a sport that has been around for a very long time. Our country and the youth should embrace this sport as it is a beautiful sport that teaches you great values and principles – be disciplined, stay focused. I guarantee you this sport will take you places. For me, I’m preparing myself for the next fight, so stay tuned.”

Malaysia previously witnessed world-class professional boxing 43 years ago when Muhammad Ali fought Joe Bugner in Stadium Merdeka in July 1975.
